Every little girl should read *Ali, The Adventurous Alligator Gar*. While it's true that beauty is only skin deep, Ali's true beauty comes from within. As the saying goes, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Ali has faith in herself, and her dream is to sing for the Royal King Fish, despite the criticism about her appearance from a bunch of mean, bullying blue crabs. She refuses to allow her life in the murky swamps to determine her path in life.
Ali traveled through the swamps of Northeast Louisiana, navigating the channels and rivers to the Gulf of Mexico in hopes of meeting her prince charming. She encountered various challenges and obstacles but remained focused on her dreams.
Ali lived in a murky swamp near Boeuf (bef) River in Northeast Louisiana. She sang enchanting songs and daydreamed about being beautiful.
“Ali, alligator gars are not pretty fish and have no real beauty and little talents,” her mom said. “That's why we live in murky places.”
“Maw, I have inner beauty and a rare singing talent,” Ali replied. “I want to step outside of the box. I long to be someone special. This pond is so scummy that it muffles my enchanting voice and hides my true beauty. My dream is to sing for the honorable Royal Kingfish. If I get a chance, I’ll shine star-bright in front of the king!”
“That's a bunch of non-sense,” her Maw said. “Once again, alligator gars are destined to live in dark, dismal, dreadful swamps and murky ponds.”
“Gary is taking me to Finnegie (finn-e-gy) Hall when it rains again,” Ali said. “He has been there and knows the way. Oh, Maw how I long to perform for the Kingfish. The rivers are almost dry, but I know this drought
Eventually, the downpour rained cats and dogs. It was an absolute deluge and a frog strangler.
“Goodbye Maw and Paw,” Ali said. “I’ll see you after I make my debut for the king.”
Ali and Gary blew kisses to their parents and off they went. They were elated when they reached Boeuf River. The fast-moving river was swollen from the heavy rain.
